While folk music still features in H-Burns' melodies, particularly under the influence of Neil Young's melancholic California in On the Beach, Sunset Park echoes The National's sonic quest around an electric soundscape and rhythmic work. It is no coincidence that the album was recorded with two of the American band's regular collaborators, David Chalmin and Benjamin Lanz, who plays the brass instruments. Thus, in the space of eleven songs, H-Burns confirms one of the primary goals (and one of the great virtues) of music: to speak about oneself while addressing everyone.
